The Art of the Scarf

For some connoisseurs of fashion
and art, the name Giuseppe Menta is a familiar name, but for most, I suspect, he
is not. It is a privilege, therefore, to present this highly accomplished
designer in the field of textiles to you.
From his hub in Como, a
picturesque place not far from Milan in northern Italy, Giuseppe Menta has
worked with textiles for more than thirty years. As a perfectionist, he has
striven to have the best production methods that work in tandem with
traditional, tried and true ways of handling fibers. His keen eye for design,
teaming that unique color with that perfect design, be it a solid hue or one of
his signature prints, is what makes Giuseppe Menta a standalone textile
designer. Hermes, Dior, Gucci, Armani, Versace and Calvin Klein,
are but a few of the top fashion houses that have sought him to create luscious
fabrics for their collections.
An unwavering dedication to a
complex and challenging field has earned Giuseppe Menta a reputation his rivals
can only dream of. His expertise in working with such natural fibers as silk,
cashmere, wool, and others, caught the attention of the fashion press very early
on. Television too produced specials on his work, while cultural institutions
around the world displayed his exquisite textiles for others to see and
appreciate.
The Italian Collection is truly
proud and thrilled to be the one to launch a new and vibrant collection of
scarves and wraps under the name of Menta. Homing in on unique talents,
Giuseppe Menta has lovingly created and curated an array of scarves that will
instantly transform and flatter. I deem the scarf as one of the most accessible
accessories; it will update your wardrobe ever so effortlessly, and also give
you that rare opportunity to reinvent your style and character. And you have so
many options.
Oversized, yet delicate and
feminine, these truly exquisite scarves come in the softest silks, and warm
cashmere. Some are in solid tints, in champagne, sand, greys and corals, all
hues that are a magnificent expression of the designer’s innate understanding of
color. Others are multicolored, like Concert, made in a luxurious organza silk,
perfect for a dramatic effect and that wow-factor!

Then there is “Light Silk”,
another one of my favorites, a black and white piece that strikes the perfect
balance between texture, color and design.

A reporter for Style, a
section on fashion in the Financial Times, wrote that scarves were an
underperforming category last year as people preferred to focus on other
accessories, like shoes and handbags. The trend towards scarves is, therefore, a
marked shift from previous times, perhaps because we have begun to see what a
great transitional piece a scarf can be. You can buy a statement piece and wear
it from summer right through to winter.
Menta’s art of the scarf is
truly worthy of your investment!
