Not a “philosophy,” nor a striking pose, but rather the result of greater awareness, perhaps a stab of conscience on the part of big companies, and consumers firmly determined to combat, even defeat “the big waste”.
Here we are with unsold articles, left over inventories of yarns of the finest quality, and disposed of goods that have become an all-important resource, a supply for the making of small, curated collections. Unique, in every sense of the word.
Even cashmere, the noblest of yarns is at the core, and deservedly so, of a major project of recovery, particularly in Italy, a country that holds the record for transforming yarns. It is not happenstance that Nicola Luccarini, expert designer Bolognese with an unwavering passion for cashmere was one of the first to create a capsule in 100% cashmere of uncompromising quality: (r) Home Collection. Nicola works ethically in how he chooses the preferred raw material, cashmere — the softest of furs that goats lose at the beginning of the legendary season, and shepherds comb away carefully without harming the animal. Plus, he works tirelessly to safeguard Italy’s unrivalled tradition of craftsmanship and the artisans who work exclusively with local artisanal workshops.
If you ask Nicola how he reuses this most precious of yarns, he will respond, “it is simple.” But in reality, it isn’t so simple, in particular when the objective is to revive and give new life to an “aristocratic” wool. (r) Home Collection is a case in point.
Everything begins with an all-too-clear idea, and a well-designed, well-thought-out weaving process that falls in line with artisanal techniques (in this case not by using knitting needles). It may be a geometric design, a striped motif nuanced in colour that in and of itself conveys not only mastery, but precision too.
In search of unused inventories of materials in the warehouses of the most prestigious producers of cashmere means Loro Piana is in pole position. Choosing the yarn, not any yarn but always the most fine, a “study” of colours occurs pairing them on the loom, prompts a cashmere piece that exhibits extraordinarily good taste and sheer harmony.
And, from here are born home furnishings, ponchos, and cardigans and many other clothing items in sync with the contemporary mood, but with timelessness inherent in their design. Basta sprechi! …anche il cashmere si reinventa…
Oramai “recycling” è diventata la parola d’ordine anche della moda mondiale. Non una filosofia, né una “posa”, ma il risultato di una presa di coscienza della maggior parte delle aziende e dei consumatori, fermamente intenzionati a sconfiggere “lo spreco”.
Ed ecco che capi invenduti, rimanenze di materiali o preziosi filati di finissima qualità, da merce in smaltimento diventano oggi una importante fonte di approvvigionamento per la realizzazione di piccole e curatissime collezioni. Uniche, nel vero senso della parola.
Anche il cashmere, fibra nobile per eccellenza, è meritatamente al centro di questa opera di recupero, in particolare in Italia, il Paese che detiene l’imprimatur per la trasformazione in filato. Non a caso, Nicola Luccarini, designer bolognese esperto e con la passione per il cashmere – collaboriamo con lui oramai da oltre 10 anni – è stato tra i primissimi a creare una capsule in filati 100% di cashmere di altissima qualità: (r) home collection .
A onor del vero, Nicola ha da sempre lavorato in nome dell’eticità, iniziando dalla scelta della materia prima, il cashmere – pelo morbidissimo che le capre perdono con la stagione mite e che i pastori rimuovono con una delicata pettinatura, senza alcun intervento cruento …come alcuni pensano. Ma anche a salvaguardia dell’artigianato italiano, collaborando esclusivamente con laboratori artigianali locali.
Se chiedete a Nicola come avviene il riuso di questo preziosissimo filato, vi risponderà << è semplice!>>. Ma in realtà non è proprio così, soprattutto quando l’obiettivo è far rivivere nel tempo un filato tanto nobile. E (r) home collection, ne è l’esempio calzante. Tutto ha inizio da un’idea ben chiara e una progettazione perfetta studiata per la tessitura a telaio secondo le tecniche artigianali (e non la lavorazione a ferri). Il design geometrico, il motivo a righe in abbinamenti di più colori non ammettono imprecisioni.
La ricerca delle rimanenze del materiali nei magazzini dei più prestigiosi produttori di cashmere: Loro Piana in testa a tutti. La scelta della finezza dei filati, lo studio dei colori che comunque si combinino a telaio dovranno preservare sempre uno straordinario gusto ed armonia. Ed ecco che nascono complementi di arredo, poncho, cardigan e molti altri capi, assolutamente contemporanei ma senza tempo, svincolati dai diktat della moda ma di grande tendenza. Unici …non troverete mai lo stesso abbinamento di colori di un capo in un altro. Anche il recycling entra a far parte dell’ “Italian Factor”.
