Maria Vittoria Albani’s workshop in the heart of Milan is a treasure trove of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings accumulated over many decades. Each piece is a labour of love, a by-product of her curiosity and talent as an artisan-maker.
She allows history, art movements, and nature to talk to her mind’s eye and to her heart that time and again guides the process from idea to the fruit of her craft.
Perhaps the ring’s motif may not appeal to everyone; but for our artisan the stealth nature of her subject seems to have captured her imagination.
Indeed, this often demonised earth bound creature is a symbol of goodness, healing, transformation and a new beginning.
Some say that “good things come in small packages”.
In this instance, we think it does as Maria’s coral serpent ring is a stand out piece in the cluttered world of costume jewellery.
About the Designer
In the heart of Milan there is a historical workshop. Founded in 1944, this small nook houses our own Maria Vittoria Albani; an eclectic designer of splendidly unusual costume jewellery.
Petite, elegant, and immensely talented, Maria makes art that speaks to natural beauty and is expressed through impeccable craftsmanship. Each piece is made by the nimble hands of artisans.
Maria’s career spans decades, and in recognition of her contribution to this art form Swarovski commissioned her pieces to be showcased in the crystal maker’s touring exhibition of “Teatro alla Scala”. Maria’s pieces also appeared in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
