Lucilla Giovanninetti shies away from the title of artist; but we most humbly disagree! A student of art history who also trained in metallurgy she has more than it takes to be an artist.
In reality, her talents place her beyond the realm of mere creator. A devotee of the artisanal way she seamlessly balances the old with the new giving life to contemporary avant-garde designs using traditional production methods.
Her circle and square earrings cast in gold bronze convey the wondrous harmony that exists between artisan and maker of contemporary things. The result – a pair of geometric-shaped earrings, one circle, and one square whose imperfections from being cast in the kiln, one at a time make them even more precious.
Indeed, to own a jewel made by Lucilla Giovanninetti’s hands is to own a piece of her soul. On how to wear these modern and avant-garde types made in Italy? The sky is the limit…
About the Designer
In a postindustrial district of Milan, where 1920s architecture holds sway, we find Lucilla Giovanninetti in her workshop creating wearable art jewellery with a certain irreverence for time.
“Everything I do starts with inspiration. I look, and observe attentively, engraving in my heart and mind different forms and sensations.”
Lucilla honed her craft while at the “Accademia di Arte Orafa” in Milan (Goldsmith Academy). There she learned the time-honoured metallurgical techniques including the most difficult and complex – a method called “cera persa” or “cire perdue,” used by sculptors to create their prototype forms.
In 2010 Lucilla launched her first designs under the name “Eandare.” The Italian Collection is honoured to present a small handpicked selection of Lucilla’s numbered pieces – a capsule of bracelets, earrings, necklaces and pendants in finely polished natural bronze – that can be worn as complete sets or for a different effect, singly.
So have fun and live creatively with Lucilla’s Eandare…
