Ponge Silk Scarf “Geometric”

Ponge Silk Scarf “Geometric”

“If not for the essence of colour geometric shapes would be incomplete” says Claudia Franco, artisan-maker of “Geometric”.

A canvas of splendid pongé silk woven in Como this playful abstract design taps into the artist’s sense of balance and proportion.

Anchoring the design in a universal orb she draws attention to its presence by a palette of rose brushes, a colour that unites all the elements in peace, love and harmony.

Clearly, “Geometrics” loveliness is not random, and as such this hand painted scarf takes up to four weeks for delivery.

From Our Curator

Our View

For as long as she can remember Milan-based Claudia Franco has loved colour and its infinite number of shades and tones. As for textiles, she has worked with many including cotton, but it is silk that she leans into; a natural fibre that in its complexity is a wonder of nature and a joy to work with.

Proud to be a keeper of traditions Claudia works with gusto tapping into her artistic bent to bring to the fore scarves that seem to open up our hearts. An execution of strict form with a large dollop of whimsy, “Geometrics” speaks to Claudia’s many gifts, not least of which is an inexhaustible imagination.

Her heart and soul are present too, as she choreographs scarves that hold you, and wrap you lovingly in their warmth, silkiness, and timeless design.

For us “Geometric” is an exceptional canvas that will not only treat you well for years to come, but will channel your beauty in ways never imagined.

About the Designer

Claudia Franco

Since her early years in Lecce and Turin Italy, Claudia Franco has been enthralled by the touch and feel of textiles, seduced by their colour and inspired by their natural beauty. Mastering the traditional techniques including Shibari, fine-tuning the old method of fixing steam by angling pots, Claudia added her elegant touch of her paint brushes on pure silk.

“One does not work on silk, one works with silk,” says Claudia. “Silk is a living thing; it guides you and your hands, and together in spiritual union, thousands of colour shades emerge.”

A relationship so heartfelt, respectful and intense cannot help but create wraps, scarves, foulards, and tunics that enchant everyone from discerning clients to overly demanding art gallerists.

In her workshop in Milano, where she has resided for many years, Claudia Franco now creates an exclusive line for The Italian Collection (TIC).
