A consummate artisan with a bountiful artistic streak Maria Vittoria is a gracious lady who has dedicated a lifetime to the art of costume jewellery and the traditions of her craft.
Mother Nature’s realm informs much of her work and these primrose beauties are no exception. Interestingly, this delightful early spring bloom comes with scores of different meanings. For instance, in Norse lore it was a sacred flower used in rituals to honour the goddess of love. Later in Victorian England the primrose symbolised an expression of longing, of “I cannot live without you”.
Irrespective of the flower’s meaning it has nurtured our artisan’s imagination spurring her to recreate it in her vision. And this she has done with such flair, careful to replicate its five petals adorning them with a wee bit of sparkle.
Indeed, Maria’s flower-motif earrings pay homage to matters of the heart.
About the Designer
Ornella Bijoux, founded in 1944 in Milan, Italy, makes splendid costume jewellery for those who love fine things. At the helm today is Simona Scala, daughter of Maria Vittoria Albani whose many years of creating and adorning have left a proud legacy.
Their creations speak to Italy’s tradition of craftsmanship; for those ways of doing, slowly and meticulously. Every necklace, pair of earrings, ring and bracelet – shaped from a plethora of natural materials like ceramics, wood, bronze metal and semi-precious stones – sings to the tune of Made in Italy.
