SUSTAINABILITY, ECO-FRIENDLY, GREEN

Sustainability, Eco-friendly, Green…seem to be the buzzwords of the year!

Everyone is jumping on the green bandwagon, which is certainly cause for celebration when it’s more than just lip service. We are especially grateful that the fast fashion industry, often accused of being big on landfills is listening to people’s concerns and addressing issues like huge inventories and cheap labour.  Kudos to them!

We at The Italian Collection feel no need to announce we’re “going green” because sustainability has been our business model and mission from day one!  As champions of artisan-makers we have always been champions of less is more. We exist to create the space for mindful purchasing.

Cristina and Myriam have stayed true to the ideals taught by Italian parents of holding on to beautifully made wearables.  From them we also learned how to use the accessory to transform something oldish into something new and dynamic.   We were taught how to take care of our clothes, to repair them when needed, and to keep them humming in our wardrobes even after another grabs our attention.

We delight in carrying on our family’s legacy and in sharing our way with Livia Firth whose involvement with sustainable fashion initiatives https://eco-age.com/livia-firth is a mission that we find both noble and timely.  As a fellow Italian and Lover of Fine Things she is the perfect ambassador for her eco-age and the Green Carpet Initiative.

And finally, we adore these words uttered by Steve Jobs…“when you make something with love and with care… you are expressing your gratitude to humanity.”

Indeed, love and care guide us, the collection and our relationships…take a peek at theitaliancollection.com and see how all of these things manifest in the accessories we feature proudly.
